Huawei Ascend D quad release date slips to July, goes into mass production only in June

The Huawei Ascend D quad is the first true high-end product with global significance by Huawei, but as the company aims to build the world’s fastest smartphone, the release date of the Ascend D quad has slipped. Now, the Android handset is expected to go into mass production only in June, while the official release date is set for July, according to Chinese publication CNMO.

And this means that the Ascend D quad won’t have the headstart and it will probably enter a fierce war with phones like the Samsung Galaxy S III and HTC One X. This means that Huawei would need really top notch performance and design, or something else that would catch user’s attention away from Android front-runners from other companies.

The Ascend D quad sports a 4.5-inch screen with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels and runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It packs a 1.2GHz custom-made quad-core processor, an 8-megapixel camera and HSPA connectivity of 21Mbps on the downlink. The handset was officially unveiled at MWC 2012, and we took our first detailed hands-on look here, so make sure to check it out.
