Droid RAZR soak test suddenly shifts to ICS test?

We reported last week that the Droid RAZR soak test was not going to include Android 4.0 – Ice Cream Sandwich. Today, the story got more complicated. A tipster speaking to Droid-Life suggested that ICS was inserted at a late date into the soak test. Apparently, the admin of the Motorola soak test forum said the following:

Looks like we got a surprise people. This regular soak test has now turned into an official soak test for Android 4.0 also known as Ice Cream Sandwich. Please subscribe to this feed for updates and more information will be posted as soon as possible.

The post has been corroborated with the image you see below. Is it legit? Hard to say, but there’s no intrinsic reason to doubt it; we know that ICS for Motorola’s current top-shelf smartphone can’t be too far away, and it’s entirely reasonable that it could be ready to test now. We don’t know the tipster in this case, but apparently they have a history with DL and we see no reason to question that.

But the reality is that corporations change decisions, often times at the last minute. This is the double-edged sword that makes this story plausible, while at the same time casts aspersion on it. At this point in time the most reasonable explanation is that the leak (and post you see below) is legitimate, and that it was deleted later, either due to a change in the software testing, or because they knew it was leaked to the press. Regardless, if ICS is ready we’ll know soon enough.

And one thing is clear: ICS is almost ready for the Motorola Droid RAZR (and RAZR MAXX). So hang tight, and we’ll let you know when we know more.
